What do you think of when you think of Saint Patrick’s Day? (

Unfortunately, for a lot of people it means drinking, green beer, and parties. But the man this holiday is actually named after — Patrick — was something far more remarkable.
Patrick was called a saint not because of a title given by a church, but because of a transformed life given by God.
As a teenager, he was kidnapped, taken to Ireland as a slave, and forced to work in isolation. It was there, in his darkest moment, that he turned to Christ. He later escaped — but then felt called by God to go back to the very people who had enslaved him, to bring them the Gospel.
That’s not the story they tell at the parade.
Patrick wasn’t about shamrocks and shenanigans. He was about faith, courage, and the unstoppable grace of God.
This Saint Patrick’s Day, instead of lifting a glass, consider lifting up a prayer — and remembering a man who let God use his greatest pain for the greatest purpose.
