D&S Alaskan Trail Rides is an established Trail and Wagon outfit that has been in business for over 20 years! We are a vendor for the Cruise lines here in Alaska and are very excited to be open and operating after two long years! We are hiring for the 2022 Summer Season for all Positions! This typically includes Wranglers, Teamsters, and swamper Positions.
If You are Interested in showing our guests the time of their life, while experiencing Alaska for yourself, This could be the opportunity for you!
Requirements:
Horse experience is a MUST, experience in the industry is a bonus. Anybody hoping to apply for the position of Teamster should definitely have some experience behind lines.
Must be 21 and older.
Must be willing to live in a moderately remote environment. There is power and we do have running water, however it is not your typical experience. Mornings and evenings are cold, and sometimes temporary freezes happen. The nearest town is roughly an hour away, and the nearest Walmart is a 2 hour drive.
A good work ethic. Days are long and there is always something to get done. This is not a job for the lazy.
The camp is a dry camp, so if you canβt refrain from drinking at the ranch, no need to apply.
You will be responsible for getting yourself to Alaska, so planning ahead is smart.
Wranglers / employees are often expected to help with Trail maintenance and other barn/ranch chores that are not directly related to giving a tour. Anyone hoping to apply will need to be a team player and willing to get the job done, no matter what it is.
A little bit about us:
We operate every day of the week between May - September. You will be working 6 Days, with 1 Day off.
We do 3 rides a day, they are 2 hours long. This is true for the Wagon as well. We can accommodate as many as 16 riders on each ride.
Our rides include spectacular views of Denali, beautiful trails and our wagon offers smores, gold panning, and fun with Reindeer as well!
Pay is a set amount to be paid once a month. Typically for every year you return, we offer a bonus.
Room and board are provided. We have a 9 bedroom bunkhouse, each employee gets their own room. Two bathrooms, a living room, laundry room and community kitchen are also available.
We shuttle guests to and from the lodge, so we prefer that you have a valid drivers license.
As vendors of Princess, you are often eligible for discounted rates through other vendors, meaning you can often take tours at a cheap rate on your day off. A shuttle is offered through princess that can take you to Talkeetna, where the majority of these tours take place. Talkeetna is also a great place to find some souvenirs and grab a bite to eat!
There is so much to talk about, but this is the Basics! If you are interested in joining our crew, Please send a Resume highlighting your experience, as well as a photo or two of your choosing. We look forward to hearing from you and making this summer season the best yet!
