If you're squeezing in one more RV trip before summer's officially over, early September might be the best window all year - kids are back in school, crowds drop off a cliff right after Labor Day, and the weather's still holding. Here are a few of my favorite picks:

Glacier National Park, Montana - This is peak window territory. Going-to-the-Sun Road is still open, days are warm, nights are crisp, and you'll actually get a campsite without booking six months out.

Grand Teton / Yellowstone, Wyoming - Early September is when the elk rut starts kicking off - bugling elk, thinning crowds, and still-mild weather before things turn in October.

Acadia National Park, Maine - Foliage isn't peaking yet, but that means fewer leaf-peepers and still-warm enough days for hiking and biking the carriage roads.

Door County, Wisconsin - Lake Michigan is still swimmable, cherry season's wrapping up, and it empties out fast once Labor Day passes.

White Mountains, New Hampshire - Great shoulder-season hiking weather, uncrowded campgrounds, and a preview of foliage season without the traffic.

Outer Banks, North Carolina - Water's still warm, beaches are way less packed - just keep an eye on hurricane season forecasts before you commit.

Anyone have an early-September go-to I should add to the list?

๐Ÿ‚ There's something about camping in Northern Michigan this time of year โ€” cooler nights, quieter campgrounds, the last golden light through the trees before summer wraps up.

๐Ÿš๐Ÿคฃ RV CAMPING BLOOPERS DAY ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿš

Social media: "Living the dream. Perfect campsite. Perfect sunset."

Reality:

๐Ÿ”น Forgot the campground gate code.
๐Ÿ”น Spent 20 minutes leveling... only to realize the fridge was still crooked.
๐Ÿ”น Locked the keys inside.
๐Ÿ”น Hooked everything up perfectly... except the water.
๐Ÿ”น Waved confidently at other campers while dragging the power cord across the campground.

Every RVer has that moment when they realize they're providing free entertainment for the entire campground. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Today's question:

What is YOUR greatest RV camping blooper?

The funnier (or more embarrassing), the better.

We'll all pretend we're laughing with you, not at you. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

๐Ÿ”ฅ RV Industry Reality Check | June 4, 2026 ๐Ÿš

The campground reservations are booked.

The coolers are packed.

The social media photos are ready.

But here's the question nobody wants to ask:

Is your RV actually ready for the season?

Every summer, thousands of camping trips start with excitement and end on the side of the road because of a worn tire, dead battery, failed hitch component, or a part that should have been replaced months ago.

The difference between a great trip and a ruined weekend is usually not luck.

It's preparation.

Before you hook up and head out, give your RV a hard look. Check the things that aren't Instagram-worthy:

โš ๏ธ Tires
โš ๏ธ Batteries
โš ๏ธ Suspension & towing components
โš ๏ธ Electrical connections
โš ๏ธ Safety equipment

Because the only thing worse than paying campground rates is paying for a repair shop while everyone else is sitting around the campfire.

Adventure is fun. Preventable breakdowns aren't.

Where are you headed this summer, and how many miles will you put on your RV before Labor Day?

Fuel prices may feel like theyโ€™re trying to tow the RV instead of the other way around lately. But one thing the RV community has always been good at is adapting.

A few things weโ€™re seeing more campers do right now:
โ€ข Slowing travel days down and staying longer at each stop
โ€ข Exploring destinations closer to home
โ€ข Traveling midweek when traffic is lighter
โ€ข Packing lighter to help fuel efficiency
โ€ข Turning the campground into the destination instead of racing across 5 states in a week

Honestly, some of the best camping memories happen when the schedule gets simpler.

Campfire > constant driving. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

How are you adjusting your RV travel plans this season?
