Twice every year, ships sailing Alaska do a repositioning cruise. This happens once at the beginning of the Alaska cruise season and then again at the end. These ships stop in San Francisco on their way, and San Francisco is one of my top three favorite cruise ports! Below is a link to five ships on repositioning cruises in September or October 2026. Robert and I sailed with MSC from New York City to the Bahamas. Sailing past the Statue of Liberty was incredible!

Another highlight was our stop at MSC's private island and marine preserve, Ocean Cay. We spent the day snorkeling, relaxing on the beach, and eating! With only our ship in port, it felt like our own slice of paradise! Then, at night, we watched a fabulous light show on the lighthouse.

MSC is an Italian-based cruise line, and the interior of the ship reflects this (check out the pictures)! It is also very kid-friendly with a Lego theme onboard.
