We are excited to welcome California Assemblymember Heather Hadwick as our guest speaker at this month's Government Action Committee meeting on Wednesday, September 16, from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.

This is a valuable opportunity for our business community to hear directly from our representative in Sacramento about what's happening at the state level, the issues impacting our region, and the priorities she's working on in the Legislature. Just as importantly, members will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with Assemblymember Hadwick.

A big thank you to Brent Freeman, entrepreneur, TEDx speaker, and author of forthcoming book The Alchemy of Joy - for leading our Lunch & Learn yesterday!

Brent led an engaging and interactive session focused on a challenge many high-achievers know all too well: burnout. He shared a powerful perspective that burnout isn’t simply a time-management problem. It’s a nervous-system problem, and understanding that distinction can change how we approach energy, focus, and well-being.

Drawing from The Alchemy of Joy, his neuroscience-backed framework for helping high performers recover their energy, focus, and drive, Brent walked participants through an interactive exercise exploring practical, science-based ways to improve balance and combat burnout.

The session gave us an opportunity to pause, reflect, and think differently about what it takes to perform at a high level in a way that’s sustainable.

Thank you, Brent, for sharing your expertise, energy, and practical tools with us, and thank you to everyone who joined and participated in today’s conversation!

SAVE THE DATE: 2026 TRUCKEE CANDIDATE FORUMS

Join us for two evenings of local candidate forums ahead of the November election:

Tuesday, October 6 | 5:00–8:00 p.m.
Thursday, October 8 | 5:00–9:00 p.m.
Truckee Town Hall: Town Council Chambers
Both Forums will be seen live at 5:00pm on Optimum Cable Channel 118.
Both Forums will be seen live-streaming at ttusd.org/community/TahoeTruckeeMedia/watchnow

Hear directly from candidates for Truckee Town Council, local school and special district boards, and Sierra College Board of Trustees. Although the Town Council race is uncontested, voters will still have an important opportunity to learn more about the candidates, their priorities, and their approach to the issues facing Truckee.

The forums are free and open to the public.
