Our cabin is still not rented during the week of the C**n Dog Day festival. This is the best event of the year in Saluda! We would come there ourselves if we didn’t already have plans. There’s a fun local 5k, a street festival, live music and plenty of activities for the whole family (and their 4 legged friends)!

Happy Easter from Saluda! The rain didn’t slow Skylar down. We found out that Mountain Brook Vineyards beautiful barrel room is also a great doggie friendly spot on a rainy day. And, we found a new hiking trail in Saluda. Of course Skylar also had to cheer on her favorite final 4 team.

Happy New Year from Saluda! Skylar had a great week in the mountains. She had to stay home while we visited the gingerbread competition at the The Omni Grovepark Inn . But, she got to go Troll Hunting with us at the North Carolina Arboretum and enjoyed some long walks and runs in the chilly weather!

One of our favorite stops downtown..

In the little town of Saluda, North Carolina you’ll find the oldest grocery store in the state...Historic Thompson’s Store. Open since 1890, this family-owned gem offers local produce, meats, cheeses, wine, and homemade goods with a friendly small-town feel. Attached is Ward’s Grill, where locals and visitors gather for hearty breakfasts and juicy burgers. Everything is cooked fresh, served fast, and made with care. Together, Thompson’s Store and Ward’s Grill perfectly capture Saluda’s charm...a place where good food, good people, and local history come together.

This weekend started with a 9-mile run on the brand new Ecusta Trail starting and ending at Ecusta Market and Cafe and Trailside Brewing Company. We can’t wait for the 19-mile trail to be finished so we can explore all the way to Brevard!

The fires are out, and we are so incredibly grateful to our local volunteers for their hard work and dedication.

A few weeks ago we visited our place for the first time since the storm. It’s so nice to see Saluda starting to recover with most businesses open. We were able to catch the last weekend of apple picking at Justus Orchard and visited a new (for us) winery Point Lookout Vineyards.

We are simply heartbroken 💔 seeing all of the destruction that occurred in our beloved town and community. But we are grateful that our home did not sustain any damages and we are eager to get back as soon as possible.

I have to say, I am in love with the town of Saluda more than ever after seeing the community come together to clear roads, distribute food and supplies. I wish there were more that we could do from far away!
