Happy New Year! 🥳🎉

12/17/2025

The 2025 Christmas tree is now standing inside the Grand Foyer of the Palais Garnier, and the setting is what makes it so striking. This is the opera’s main ceremonial hall, built in the late 1800s for imperial receptions and intermissions. Gold statues, mirrored walls, and painted ceilings surround the tree, so it feels fully absorbed into the architecture rather than added on as decoration.

The tree is designed specifically for this room. Its height, color palette, and ornament spacing are chosen to work with the scale and symmetry of the Grand Foyer. Unlike most Christmas displays in Paris, this one is placed inside a major historic monument rather than a store window or outdoor square, which gives it a very different presence.

You do not need a performance ticket to see it. The tree is visible during daytime visits to the Opéra Garnier throughout December, outside of performance closures. That makes it an easy stop even if you are not attending a show, and it pairs well with a full visit of the building’s interiors.

Like all holiday installations at Garnier, it is temporary. The tree will come down shortly after the New Year, which makes December the only window to see this space dressed for the season.
