For our last day with this Scenic itinerary we opted to spend the afternoon exploring Lyon on our own.

We enjoyed a very leisurely breakfast on board before taking the walk up to the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière. We could have taken the ship’s excursion which would have been on the bus … but .. we figured how hard could it be to take the stairs- all 550 of them (one way).

Have to say the steep trek up the hill was SO worth it. Beautiful views and a stunning Cathedral!
