CIRCUIT BREAKERS ARE NOT JUST SWITCHES
Electrical note:
Do your fuses blow or circuit breakers trip often?
Circuit breakers that often trip or fuses that blow don't always mean you have electrical wiring problems or a bad breaker/fuse box.
** There are times when you may need an electrician, and when in doubt, make that call 💯
Circuit breakers and fuses are called “overcurrent protection devices”.
The purpose of the overcurrent protection device is to protect the wires and structure from the fire hazards of too much current or a short circuit by killing the power. If the overcurrent protection device doesn’t kill the power, their could be a fire.
Many times there's simply too much power being used on a circuit and the breaker will trip or the fuse will blow. In this case, the circuit breaker/fuse is doing its job by killing the power… otherwise the wires will heat up and start a fire. Try pluging in at another outlet on a different circuit.
If your house still has fuses, that is an old, outdated system and you should consider upgrading to a circuit breaker box.
** As illustrated on the image, the typical breaker lets you know when it is “tripped” vs being turned off by the breaker being in the middle, not all the way off or on.
Tripped breakers must be “reset” by firmly switching the breaker to the “off” position, then switch the breaker back on. If it immediately trips again, call an electrician. Never try to force a breaker to stay on.
Enjoy your day!
Better yet, have a New Day 😊
