Planning a Route 66 road trip? 🛣️ Here are a few things I wish everyone knew before driving Historic Route 66.

The Mother Road isn’t about racing from Chicago to Santa Monica or checking every attraction off a list. Take the old alignments. Stop at the weird roadside attractions. Visit the small Route 66 museums and businesses. Talk to the people keeping the history alive. And always leave room to turn around when something catches your eye. 😂

The best Route 66 road trip itinerary leaves room for the unexpected.

Save this for your Route 66 trip! ❤️

Every mile of Route 66 has a story. Some are told through neon signs and vintage diners. Others are hidden in cracked pavement, forgotten buildings, and the people who kept this road alive.

This series is about uncovering those stories—one stop, one landmark, and one piece of history at a time. Because when you travel Route 66, you’re not just taking a road trip… you’re driving through America’s story.

📍Which piece of Route 66 history surprised you the most?

Some places become part of your Route 66 story without you even realizing it.

Russell’s was one of those places for me. A stop for a meal turned into wandering through rows of classic cars, vintage signs, and reminders of why I fell in love with the Mother Road in the first place.

Losing places like this is a reminder that Route 66 is always changing. That’s why I keep sharing these towns, museums, diners, motels, and hidden gems—because today’s stop could become tomorrow’s memory.

What’s your favorite memory from Russell’s? Let’s make sure its story keeps being told. ❤️

Most people know the name Route 66. Fewer know the story.

For 100 years, the Mother Road has connected small towns, big dreams, quirky roadside stops, neon motels, and some of America’s best road trip memories.

If Route 66 has been on your bucket list, 2026 is the year to make it happen.

Every crack in the pavement has a story. Take the original road and see what you’ve been missing.

Route 66 isn’t just about roadside attractions—it’s about the stories that shaped the American West.

More than a museum, this is a place where the stories of the American West come to life.

From cowboy culture and Native American history to legendary rodeos and Western art, the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum preserves the people, traditions, and spirit that helped shape the West. It’s one of Oklahoma City’s most iconic attractions—and well worth slowing down to explore.

🚗☀️ The best summer plans usually start with, “What happens if we take this road?”

A few roadside oddities, a couple of neon signs, way too many snack stops, and suddenly you’ve got a trip you’ll be talking about for years.

Here’s to the detours, the weird stops, and the memories that weren’t on the itinerary.

🌵 Where are you road-tripping this summer?👇

What a year for history lovers. 🇺🇸✨

America turns 250, and the Mother Road turns 100.

Two milestones that remind us how many stories came before us—and how many are still waiting to be discovered. From historic Main Streets and roadside landmarks to fireworks lighting up the sky tonight, I can’t help but appreciate the people, places, and moments that shaped the journey.

Here’s to 250 years of America, 100 years of Route 66, and the adventures still ahead.

Happy Birthday, America. ❤️🤍💙 ❤️
