Wednesdays Are for Water - Hiwassee River

Planning a paddling trip on the beautiful Hiwassee River? Here's an important update from Tennessee Valley Authority regarding summer water releases:

Due to current drought conditions, the adjusted weekday release schedule will remain in place through Friday, June 26:

Monday–Friday: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Saturday–Sunday: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

The good news? Beginning Saturday, June 27, extended summer hours return a few days early!

June 27 through Labor Day Weekend: Daily 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Whether you're kayaking, rafting, tubing, or simply enjoying a day on the river, be sure to plan your adventure around the release schedule and always keep safety in mind.

TVA will provide additional updates as the Fourth of July holiday weekend approaches.

Come on out and experience summer on one of the most scenic waterways you'll find - see you on the Hiwassee!

Polk County Craftsmanship: Big Thanks to Chris Hicks who went and turned a mess into an absolute masterpiece.

Chris hauled the timber off that fell after a storm, milled it down, let it cure up just right, and hand-built the most beautiful Adirondack chairs you’ve ever laid eyes on. They just took their rightful place in our front yard, and honestly, we couldn't be prouder. Some folks call art the stuff you hang on the wall and I reckon it is, but so are these here hand built Adirondack chairs
