Where is Zambia?

That's the #1 question I received when I told people I was headed to Zambia, a country in Africa that's definitely still off the beaten path. For the record, it’s between Southern and Eastern Africa, North of Zimbabwe and East of Tanzania.

My recent journey through this incredible country was different to any other country I had previously experienced in Africa. I'm already dreaming of my return! As a travel advisor that specializes in adventure travel, I'm constantly seeking destinations that offer that perfect blend of raw, authentic wilderness and the right level of comfort and Zambia delivers on that front.

Zambia is particularly great for adventurers that don't like to sit still. It offers more adventure options while on safari than any other country. You can spend your days canoeing, going on river safaris, fishing, walking close to rhinos, ziplining, white river rafting, and even sleeping out in the national parks under the stars. Did you know that Zambia invented the walking safari? You can go on a walking safari every day if you'd like or even on a walking safari between your lodges! You can also find several species, such as the Thornicroft's Giraffe, that only exist in Zambia, as well as other animal species, such as the puku, that are hard to spot elsewhere. And you can’t skip visiting Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

This trip has only deepened my passion for crafting adventures in Africa. Africa AGAIN?! That was people's main reaction when they heard I was going to Africa again and jaws dropped even further when folks heard I was visiting South Africa twice within the span of 12 months.

Returning to Africa yet again, and honestly, my heart just felt like it was coming home. There's this undeniable magic that keeps pulling me back to this incredible continent, a deep connection that gets stronger with every visit. It's not just the breathtaking landscapes or the mind-blowing wildlife encounters that totally leave you speechless – though, seriously, those are a huge part of it! It's also the vibrant cultures, the super warm people, that incredible sense of adventure everywhere you go, and just how Africa truly wakes up your senses. It's really something else and a true reset for the soul.

As a luxury travel advisor who specializes in luxury adventure travel, I've been lucky enough to explore some of the most extraordinary places on Earth, but Africa consistently blows me away. They spent their days exploring on horseback and hiking to a remote, off-the-grid picnic spot called the Black Diamond. A private gourmet picnic, glass structure, total seclusion... just them, nature, and the kind of quiet you don’t realize you need until you have it.

Who has started watching season 3 of already?! This show is so special because, in The White Lotus, the destination is a character too. Unlike previous seasons, season 3 of The White Lotus is not set in one location (or even on one island). The filming locations spanned Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui, and neighboring islands, and comprised at least six hotels and multiple private villas. As mentioned in the promo materials, “What happens in Thailand stays here.”

The previous filming locations — Maui, Hawaii for Season 1 and Sicily, Italy for Season 2 — are what really launched the trend of set-jetting, driving 300% year over year surges in travel demand to Sicily and Hawaii in the first 90 days following each season's premiere.

It looks like Thailand is expecting to see that same set-jetting surge. Online searches for visits to the “Land of Smiles” have already increased up to 88% and visitors to Thailand have already increased 21% since the start of the year, in comparison to 2024 - and that's before the premiere!
