Every spring, we start dreaming about the Camas Prairie in bloom. 💜 Unfortunately, a dry winter and spring mean we won't see the spectacular camas lily superbloom that visitors sometimes experience across the prairie. Nature has a mind of its own, and this year simply wasn't the year for a sea of purple-blue.

That said, don't write off a trip to Camas County just yet. You may still spot scattered camas lilies if you venture into the prairie, and the area remains one of Southern Idaho's best destinations for birdwatching, wildlife viewing, photography, and wide-open mountain scenery.

Here's hoping for abundant moisture this winter and a stunning return of the camas lilies in 2027. Until then, the Camas Prairie is still worth the drive.

Turquoise water, a waterfall, towering canyon walls, and a trail that takes you right into the heart of it all—welcome to Box Canyon.

One of the best things about Box Canyon Springs Nature Preserve is that you can experience it however you’d like. Short on time? Spend 15 minutes at the very accessible overlook (just steps from a bathroom and parking lot) taking in one of the most incredible views in Southern Idaho. Have a little longer? Follow the trail down into the canyon where you’ll find crystal-clear spring water, basalt cliffs, a rushing stream, and a beautiful waterfall tucked into the canyon below.

Many visitors spend an hour or two exploring the trail, relaxing by the water, taking photos, and even cooling off with a quick dip in the spring-fed pools during the summer months.

Whether you’re looking for a quick roadside stop or a memorable outdoor adventure, Box Canyon delivers. Read specifics on our website https://visitsouthidaho.com/box-canyon-state-park-and-nature-preserve/

Hidden beneath the lava fields north of Gooding lies one of Southern Idaho’s most fascinating hidden gems.

Tea Kettle Cave isn't your typical cave adventure. Descend through the cave's narrow "spout" entrance and discover a massive underground chamber illuminated by sunlight pouring through an opening above. In the center, a surprising oasis of green ferns thrives in the middle of the desert. The cave's unique shape is exactly what earned it the name Tea Kettle Cave.

If you're looking for a unique summer adventure, add this one to your bucket list. Just be prepared for rough roads, bring sturdy shoes, and remember to leave no trace so future explorers can enjoy it too.
