🌟 The Light Returns — A Once-in-a-Generation Celebration in Two Harbors 🌟
After nearly six years of darkness, the iconic sweep of the Two Harbors Lighthouse beacon will once again shine over Lake Superior—and you’re invited to witness history in the making.
On July 4th, the Lake County Historical Society’s Centennial Celebration, sponsored by Lovin' Lake County, MN, will bring together history, music, community, and fireworks for a full day of FREE fun in Two Harbors.
🕙 Festivities begin at 10 a.m. on the lawn beside the Depot Museum and continue all day long. Here's what's in store:
🏛️ FREE admission to both the Depot Museum and the Two Harbors Lighthouse—a rare chance to explore these historic landmarks at no cost.
📸 An open house for Photography at the Depot, featuring the second installment of our rotating exhibit, spotlighting local photographer Hayes Scriven.
🚂 Hands-on exhibits and activities from the Lake Superior Railroad Museum and Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center.
🔦 A special presentation on Fresnel lens technology and a chance to view original lighthouse equipment inside the museum.
🎩 Step back in time with Teddy Roosevelt’s Camp—enjoy lunch with the “President,” hear his rousing 4th of July speech, and explore interactive, family-friendly historical displays.
🌅 Evening highlights include:
🎶 A performance by the Two Harbors Ukulele Group (THUGS)
🕯️ A formal dedication of the new lighthouse beacon
🎤 A concert by Minnesota favorite GB Leighton
🔦 The long-awaited relighting of the Two Harbors Lighthouse Beacon, guided by original volunteer keepers and supported by Cooperative Light & Power
🎆 And of course—Two Harbors’ spectacular 4th of July fireworks lighting up the night sky!
This day is more than a celebration—it’s a tribute to 100 years of preserving our local history and the power of a community coming together to bring the light back.
