The wildflowers at Split Rock hit full peak this week, while the leaves over the top of them are still only a tenth turned. The ground is going before the trees do. The lake has been rolling — four-foot waves, water still at sixty — and that surf keeps turning the wet line over, so the agates and sea glass end up just sitting there waiting. Nobody comes up off our beach on schedule. Down at Gooseberry the pink salmon are pushing up out of the lake below the Lower Falls. Cabin’s open Sep 29 to Oct 14. Who would you bring up for it.

We're Thinking of Our North Shore Community

We’ve had a few messages about the wildfires near the Beaver Bay/Two Harbors area. First off—thank you for checking in. Our property is located a good distance from the affected areas and is safe at this time.

That said, our hearts go out to everyone impacted by the fires—locals, firefighters, and anyone with travel plans who’s had to change course. We’re keeping an eye on the situation and will post updates if anything changes.

Stay safe out there, and let’s all send some positive energy to the crews working to keep things under control.
