Had the pleasure of fishing with Dodd Clifton yesterday! Dodd was with Realtree for 30 years and is well known in the hunting industry. This was his first muskie. He also learned about a Muskie’s razor-sharp gill rakers! That’s why I have a first aid kit onboard. The muskie survived. We’ll see about Dodd! 😉

Fishing continues to be hot for lake trout. A friend and I got these yesterday while scouting for this morning’s trip. It got pretty rough out there this morning but we still managed to put a few in the box before we called it. I was glad to get off the water with they NE wind!

Great day on the water with my old friend Noah (he’s really old!) It was choppy this morning but the fish were going nuts! 5 fish in an hour! Then it calmed down and we went 2 hours without a bite. Finally got our 6th fish!

Great day on the water with some gals from Women Anglers of Minnesota. Lots of small lakers and a pink salmon. Released four more lakers. Had two doubles too which made for some exciting moments!

Well, the clients wanted salmon and we got lucky. 3 lake trout and 2 cohos in the box. 2 more dandy salmon got away. It’s unbelievable what the baitfish has done to these fish. Normally Lake Superior cohos are 15-18 inches and pretty skinny. The big coho today measure 24 inches and hit before we even had half our lines in the water this morning! Nothing like kicking the skunk out of the boat right away!

I had Purujit and Laura today all the way from Washington! Purujit is obsessed with fishing! After they got their 6 lakers, they wanted to enjoy their day on the water, so I even got to catch a few. We ended up with our 3-person limit of lake trout and a bonus pink salmon.

Anders put on a clinic today catching sunnies and perch. We went through so many worms today that I fear they may go extinct!
