We just want to bring to everyone’s attention that we have come across 3 Man-o-wars already this season. Although they are not in large numbers, they are something to lookout for. If you see one, do NOT touch it. Call and report it to our non-emergency number so it can be disposed of. If you happen to get stung by one, rinse the effected area with saltwater and do your best to get the stingers out. Then rinse with vinegar and hot water. If needed, seek medical attention.

Below is a picture of the sandbar on the south end where no one is allowed to go to from the shore of Tybee Island. There is a channel between shore and the sandbar. The tide shifts very quickly and many get stuck over there due to the tide rising so fast. Some attempt to cross back over but the current between shore and the sandbar is incredibly powerful and swimmers become overcome by the strength of the current. Please do not attempt to cross to the sandbar.
