The Tybee / Little Tybee area is a great place for exploring the marsh / creek and the uninhabited barrier island environment of the Ga Coast. Over the past several years, we’ve developed a pamphlet that that can provide helpful information for fun and successful exploration trips. If your vacation plans include some “water walk abouts” we’ll be happy to send a copy. Just call or drop me an email ([email protected]) and give me an email address to send the attachment.

I’ve recently developed two sets of “activity guide maps” based on Google earth aerial photos and available as .jpg files. One is for GPS navigation around Little Tybee and the other for bank fishing sites around Tybee. Each has an index map and several more detailed guide maps. If anyone may find these useful, drop me a note and I can easily email you the files. The pictures are of the index maps for each set.

Down for maintenance last week and caught some Mosby "action". Waiting patiently (sort of) for dinner, having a bite, and short snooze after. To paraphrase Mel Brooks "It's good to be the Cat".

Just added water to the floating dock--very handy for rinsing after swimming / walking on the sand bar. Before using, must turn the water on at the main faucet on the storage shed then open the small valve which directs flow to the dock system.

Guests frequently send us photos of their visit which we greatly appreciate. (we keep a "guest album" on the website photo page) Here's a shot of an azalea bloom in front of the cottage. Our Mom planted these many years ago and they're still going strong.

Again last week--For about the last month a new "stray" cat has been visiting the cottage. He/She ?? looks almost exactly like Mosby. Here's a pict of both sitting on the canoe. Mosby tolerates the other visitor but gets a little fractious when it gets to close to the food dish.

Just ran across this photo. Several years back I was working in the back yard near the marsh when I noticed this yearling c**n checking me out. They're normally not out much in the day or when people are near. Young ones are a bit less skittish. Probably not long separated from Mama and wondering "who's going to feed me now"

Christmas morning again--just after feeding the gulls. This immature brown pelican landed close to the dock and swam around giving us a look over. Not a real common behavior--they generally don't usually get this close.

Christmas morning and some gull visitors at the cottage dock. Had a good “bread-thrower” and was able to get a fairly decent vid of gulls swooping around for their “Christmas Treat”. Had a flock of 10-12 but no “practiced bread catchers”. Only once did one get the bread in the air. Several, however, were pretty good at scooping it out of the water without splashing down. Kids particularly seem to enjoy this activity.

We’re having family Christmas at the cottage again this year. Arrived late evening 23th and upon getting up this a.m. realized there was no cat food and Mosby was at the back door looking for breakfast. We had some leftover spaghetti w/meat—he apparently thought it was pretty good since he cleaned his plate. After that he went to the front yard for a rest under the palm frond and a standard “cat face clean”. All is well in Mosby’s world. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all !

Here's a photo taken 13 Dec and sent to me by a guest. Taken from our floating dock. Dolphins come into the creek to feed. Not an every day occurrence but we've been seeing them more frequently over the last year or so. Scroll back thru the posts where I have some videos showing their feeding techniques (taken Dec last year)

Bad day to be a mud minnow. Was standing on the walk out to the dock and saw this heron. He's in breeding plumage. Notice the wound on his shoulder--probably from mating fight. One sees this type of wound on these birds fairly frequently.

Last week we completed the dock work by cutting back the walk. Go here for some picts of the work http://1drv.ms/1q2iNGz The creek had meandered such that the base of the walk support piles were about to fall away. We removed 10ft of the walk and repositioned the floating dock to fix the problem.
