Company President, Bob Sanford, and Sanford and Hawley honored to be recognized this week by June Norcross Webster Scout Reservation with their Elwin “Red” Cornell Distinguished Service Award.
Community service and outreach have been important to the Sanford family and Sanford and Hawley for the entirety of our 141 years.
At the Annual Alumni & Friends Summer Reception, Council Commissioner Bob Sanford was awarded the Elwin "Red" Cornell Distinguished Service Award. The award was created in honor of Red Cornell, the Scout Executive of the Eastern Connecticut Council, and the first Camp Director in 1964, to recognize an individual who goes well beyond their duty to support the programs and development of Scouting and the June Norcross Webster Scout Reservation.
Professionally, Bob is the President of Sanford and Hawley, Inc., a Connecticut-based, family-owned building materials company. He has offered his expertise and counsel on many of the building projects at J.N. Webster in recent years, saving us time and money. Scouting has benefited directly from the support given by Sanford and Hawley, and the Connecticut Rivers Council Camping operation has been enhanced significantly because of their generosity.
