Heading to the Bahamas? Here’s What Boaters Need to Know:
There have been a few changes to cruising permit fees over the past year—and some good news for boaters planning shorter stays!
In July 2025, The Bahamas made significant changes to its cruising permit fees, including eliminating the shorter-term options. For many smaller boat owners who typically visit for a few months, that meant paying significantly more for a longer-term permit. After plenty of feedback from boaters and the marine industry, The Bahamas revised the fee structure again in April 2026, bringing back shorter-term options.
For vessels up to 50 feet, boaters can now choose:
⚓ 30 days – $250
⚓ 6 months – $300
⚓ 12 months – $500
So, whether you're planning a quick island getaway, spending the summer cruising, or staying for the season, there’s now a little more flexibility to choose the permit that fits your plans.
