Let’s talk staterooms 🚢⬇️
Did you know? Disney Cruise Line can provide a free Pack n Play and diaper pail for any room with littles! All you have to do is add it to your reservation on the app, or I can reserve it for you!
My husband and I recently stayed in an Interior stateroom on another cruise line and felt like it was perfectly spacious, so we opted for the same room type on our Disney Cruise. Shortly after booking, we looked at floor plans and realized that it might be cramped with a Pack n Play. But for the LIFE of me, I couldn’t find a single picture online of a Pack n Play in an Interior room on the Destiny!
So here’s some pictures!! We were surprised by how much room we actually had and felt like this was perfectly fine for our needs! We had to be strategic about using that pathway from the bed to the bathroom, but it was very doable, and we were hardly in the room enough for it to matter. If we’d had another child in the room, it would have been a different story. We’ll just keep that in mind for the future 😉 You can see the Verandah room has a similar amount of space for the Pack n Play, but because of the floorplan, this one doesn’t block the path from the queen bed to the bathroom! One the other hand, it does make it less convenient to get to the verandah. After this cruise, our consensus is that an Oceanview room would be the best choice for families with a Pack n Play - it would be perfectly out of the way of everything!
If you’ve ever been on a Disney Cruise, you know that Disney is leading the way when it comes to stateroom bathrooms! In most of their rooms, there is a split bathroom - one side with a sink and toilet, and the other with a sink and combo shower/tub. HOWEVER, this is not the case for their Interior rooms! Our room had a standard cruise bathroom - one room with a sink, toilet, and combo shower/tub. This was perfectly fine for our needs, but a larger family might prefer to have more space and privacy. In that case, I would recommend booking an Oceanview or Verandah stateroom!
Each night, in select staterooms, your sitting area transforms into a bunk bed!! The top bunk gets an extra special treat on the Destiny - a mural of Hercules in the stars! This is such a functional way to fit more people into one room, and it makes for a fun surprise for littles. If you’d like to keep this setup all day so that beds can be accessible for nap time, just let your stateroom host know. This goes for the Pack n Play, too!
Something I especially love about Disney Cruise Line’s newest ships is that their rooms do not all look the same - they have different themes for different floors! We were SO excited that our room was Hercules themed!!! Our other party had a room themed to Brave!
Fun Fact: All cruise ships have metal walls and doors! Experienced cruisers take advantage of this feature by bringing magnetic hooks and other things they can stick to the walls for organization and comfort.
On Disney Cruises, though, it is customary to decorate your stateroom door! We didn’t go quite as all-out as most people do, but it was still cool to get in on the fun!! What I really like about this is that it gives you a visual to find your room, so you don’t have to look for your room number every time. Ours in particular also functioned as a sweet keepsake from the trip!
