Superstition Wilderness at sunset.
There are over 180 miles of trails in the 160,200 acre wilderness area and I’ve only hiked approximately 20 of them. 😕

One of the coolest hikes, in my opinion, is the 6.2 mile hike up Siphon Draw to the top of Flat Iron. (Picture #2) The elevation gain is +3,000 feet and there’s scrambling near the top, but the view is worth the effort. I’ve done it twice and would do it again.

Where is your favorite hike?

Throwback Thursday to last year when my son, daughter-in-law, and grandson joined us for an overnight campout along side the Colorado River by Gypsum, CO.

I was riding the backcountry discover route (BDR) with some buddies and Gypsum was a good spot to layover at the end of the stage.

The BDR is a great way to see remote and beautiful spots in Colorado and is memorable, but seeing my family was one of the highlights of the trip.

In an effort to promote engagement on Instagram I’m supposed to ask a question, but I don’t have one. I just want to share a fun memory.

Hi, we’re Craig and Kathy Eaton and we’re semi-retired part time RV’ers with a 26’ Keystone Cougar. Our passions include spending time with our children and grandchildren, hiking, mountain biking, exploring, landscape photography, and chocolate making. 🍫 Our goal is to visit all 63 US national parks. So far, we’ve only seen 16! 🏕️ Along the way we’ll share interesting places to visit, eateries, trails, and camping tips. Because we hope to make this interactive, please share with us, too.

Camping, mountain biking, and hiking in CB is an incredible experience. It’s one of our favorite places to go.
Be aware, it gets very busy during the summer holidays and during festivals, so camping areas and restaurants fill up quick.

The Gas Cafe is a great spot for gas, groceries, and a great sandwich. Nothing like a typical gas station sandwich! Trust me on this one.

There are numerous restaurants on Elk Ave. Two of our favorites are Breadery and Bonez, but truthfully, we never had a bad meal at any of them.

Btw, there’s a dump station in town thats easy to access just down the street from the Gas Cafe.

The first picture is of us on a trip a couple years ago to Zion NP doing the Narrows hike. If you do this hike, be sure to bring water shoes because the water is very cold and the rocks are slippery. It’s very popular, so expect to go up stream quite a ways, or go very early, to avoid crowds. FYI, this trail is probably going to be closed for the entire 2023 season due to high runoff and possible flooding. While at the park, be sure to hike to Angels Landing. It’s absolutely breathtaking but be sure to get the required permit or they won’t let you go all the way up. (You can get the permit online at nps.gov)

The other pictures were taken right after we purchased the trailer in Tucson and were on our way home to Mesa/Phoenix. We bought it from Eastside RV Liquidators and it was a great experience. Even though it’s a couple years old it’s in excellent condition. We really love the layout of this trailer and I’ll explain why in the next post.
