It’s been a great week of hosting school groups in SNP.. we saw wild violets and 1 blooming star chickweed up on Compton Peak and saw bloodroot, white trout lillie’s, wild violets and star chickeeed on the Fox Hollow Trail. Many of our guests tried garlic mustard! We also talked about the history of the park, the AT, wayfinding, birds, bears and bugs! oh my!!!

It’s hiking season folks! Time to remember to include checking the status of fire bans and where in the back country you may build a fire.

Yesterday GFC responded to 137 that burned 2,390 acres across the state. Conditions for today are SLIGHTLY better than yesterday, but we still need you to please be EXTREMELY cautious with anything that may start fires outdoors. Thank you! Photo is from Lumpkin County.
