Almost every "cPanel alternatives" guide online was written by someone selling one of the alternatives.

Which means none of them can tell you to stay where you are.

We can. ChemiCloud sells hosting, not control panels. We're a cPanel partner, we have no product in this category, and we've absorbed every price increase since 2019. So we wrote the comparison we'd have wanted.

A few things in it that the vendor content tends to skip:

→ Plesk is owned by the same company as cPanel. Both sit under WebPros, consolidated after the Oakley Capital acquisition around 2018 — and cPanel's move to per-account pricing followed in 2019. Switching to Plesk changes your pricing model. It doesn't change who sets it.

→ The pricing model matters more than the price. Same server, 40 accounts: cPanel costs about 3.5× DirectAdmin. At 400 accounts: 7.5×. Low-density and high-density operators should reach opposite conclusions, and most advice doesn't know which one you are.

→ Migration payback is longer than people assume. On a 13-licence fleet we make it roughly 18 months to 2.5 years. A payback past that range rarely survives contact with reality, because something in the plan always costs more than the plan said.

→ You don't have to choose for the whole fleet. Running a second panel on new servers only captures most of the benefit at almost none of the migration cost. Almost nobody writes about this.

DirectAdmin, Enhance, AdminBolt, Plesk, and the free options — with the downsides listed, because a comparison with no trade-offs is an advert.

The 2027 cPanel prices are out. They take effect on 16 December.

Solo $32.99. Admin $38.99. Pro $58.99. Premier $76.99. And the per-account rate above 100 goes from $0.49 to $0.55.

That last one is the number to pay attention to. At 12.2% it's the biggest percentage move on the card, and it's the only line that scales with your customer count rather than your server count. If you run dense Premier servers, that's where your increase actually lands — not in the tier price everyone's quoting.

We ran it across a normal 13-licence fleet: ten Pro, three Premier, 180 accounts in overage.

→ $81.80 more per month. $981.60 a year. 9.8%.
→ Divided across 430 customers, that's 19 cents each.
→ Break-even churn if you pass it on: about 3.3%. Lose more than fourteen customers and you'd have been better off absorbing it.

And one thing worth doing before you touch customer prices at all: annual billing is priced as eleven months for twelve. On ten Pro licences that saves $589.90 a year — 60% of the entire increase, without a single customer conversation. It's only available on Solo, Admin and Pro, and Premier has no annual option, so check which of your licences qualify.
