Bigwoods Horse & Cattle Good Cows and Great Horses! Bigwoods Horse & Cattle is a small (and we do mean small!) farm in Lake Charles, LA.

We believe that big things come in small packages and so our goal is to produce high quality Beefmaster cattle and Arabian horses that work no matter where you take them. It’s why we put “Lil” in the front of every name of every animal we produce. Our small farm parallels a large neighborhood so every animal has to be one that is able to be one you can enjoy safely with your family. Take a look around our page, and feel free to schedule a visit to come look at our cattle or horses sometime, we would love to have you. The coffee pot is always on (or just about to be) and with five children the stove is rarely empty long.

— it’s a girl —
She kept us waiting but she was worth the wait. Stings Color (APHA) x TKO Brave Legacy (AHA). And I think she’s gonna keep us all on our toes because she definitely prefers standing and walking rather than sitting and napping.

Congratulations to Joshua Bigwood and the Bigwood family on their Stings Color beautiful little filly that arrived this morning to his Arabian mare “TKO Brave Legacy” aka Brave. 😍😍

Sting has produced two other Half Arabian offspring that have been highly successful in different disciplines.

Every once in a while you get a great one. Jack is that for me. It’s been almost a year since I’ve rode him (life be life-ing) but you’d never have known it. We needed to sort and sell a few today so on the saddle goes and it’s off to work. Old man knew his job and did it well!

And a special thanks to our first bull buyer for sending us photos of the grandkids! 😂😂 Lenny (Lil Leprechaun) was our daughter’s first and favorite show bull. His personality was great and his fertility is even better. He was about 15 months when they picked him up and he pretty much went right to work. Great attitudes and good production is what we are shooting for. We want to produce cattle that will go to work and get the job done while still being a joy to be around.

Been busy around here and haven’t done an update for a while. We had a great calf crop this year and a 100% birth rate so that was good. Added a new bull to the family and can’t wait to see what this boy produces next spring!

Vaya Con Dios Mr Doug Williamson. The cowhorse community lost a great one today. I know all of our saddles will be riderless someday - it just doesn’t seem right that yours should be empty now. I’m told our Lord and Savior rides a pretty good steed — so I’m thinking He might have an extra just waiting for you.

My cattle load better than my horses…and they’ve been hauled a whole lot less. I’m not sure if that’s because they are awesome calves or if my horses just need to get their act together. Ha!
