Acorn Cottage

While playing with the Image Generator in 'Chat GPT', I asked it to create a grossly stylized view of a cottage in our beloved village of Bacova, backlit by an early morning sunrise--and this is the image it came up with.

Not too shabby, really......given that it had total 'creative license' to paint a picture of its own making. But it is NOT an accurate picture of our cottage; our cottage is bigger and the neighboring cottages are not that close to us!! 😉

The historic Village of Bacova (Virginia) is a very special place and it deserves the honor of being listed on the National Register of Historic Places - NPS. Our thanks to the Bath County Board of Supervisors for joining with us in securing a grant from the Virginia Department of Historic Resources for the work to prepare the nomination of Bacova for the Register.
Meetings are scheduled for December 6 and 7 to explain the process and answer questions. Everyone is welcome.

This could be an interesting concert coming to our area on April 19th (in Clifton Forge, Va).

I've heard this band is pretty good--and they don't have to spend a lot of money on their wardrobe!

(I've worn that uniform......many years ago!)

A local bear does a "dine and dash" from the dumpster at Snead's Tavern with the help of a trash truck. No one knew the bear was IN the dumpster until the trash truck emptied the dumpster into its cargo hold. This was our excitement last Friday morning in Hot Springs, Va.

Nearby Flag Rock Trail offers a challenging hike up to the top of Warm Springs Mountain, but great views. The trailhead/parking lot is just on the south side of the Dairy barn in Warm Springs, about 5 miles away.

I've been picking up trash on both sides of Bacova for years now--it's nice that it is now 'official'!! These two new signs have gone up about one mile out from each end of our enchanted village of Bacova!!
