For those of you living in and near Phoenix...Lufthansa just announced they will fly non-stop to Munich 3 days a week starting on August 3rd (just in time for Oktoberfest 🍻). This is a great option to get to Europe and explore from there--trains go from Munich all over Germany, Austria, Switzerland and beyond.

Anyone want to guess what this German speciality is called??

After a quick two night stay in Nice, I am starting the journey home. This is a reminder to download your airline app so you can get notifications about your flight. Around 10pm last night, Delta sent a message saying they didn't think my flight into or out of Boston would be on time and did I want to change my flight. Because I saw the notification quickly, I was able to get the last premium select seat on an Air France flight...so now going Nice to Paris to Phoenix and will avoid all of the weather on the east coast (hopefully...don't want to jinx my journey 😊)

Back to Africa for a moment---I posted my blog. I do mention this in the blog, but it is important to remember that you are generally not this close to wildlife on safari. I have been busy checking out places for you to visit in the L'Aisne region of France that includes part of the ch*****ne trail. The tourism board has shown us WWI American cemetaries and momuments, museums, ch*****ne tastings and we have stayed in a different chateau each night....this is night 2 and we just finished an amazing meal at a 1⭐️ restaurant.

The African part of my trip is coming to an end. I'm flying to Paris today from Reunion Island. Next week I am spending time with the Ch*****ne Tourism Board and ending with a couple of days in Nice to check out one of the recently announced top 50 hotels in the world 🌍✈️ A few photos from my last day in Mauritius (which also was my birthday!) and our one day in Reunion (including another helicopter ride)

We arrived at resort #3 today in Mauritius...all are amazing with a very high level of service...and the views continue to be gorgeous 🤩 Like many islands, there is a pet overpopulation problem on Mauritius. I visited the dogs that resort #2 has chosen to fix and take in (Paradise Cove) and stopped at a non-profit today that holds spay/neuter clinics, helps injured animals and has about 125 animals up for adoption. Most never get adopted and end up living at the shelter 😢

We moved from Botswana to Johannesburg yesterday and got up for our flight to Mauritius today. Many people combine safari and beach in one trip to Africa. I'm staying at 3 different properties in the 6 nights we are here. Got to the Intercontinental Balaclava Fort just in time to enjoy this gorgeous sunset from our suite...we have 3 terraces so I keep moving around to get the best view 😊
