Here is the simplest case I can make for working with a travel advisor.

You could do a lot of things yourself, but you probably often hire a trusted professional. You probably wouldn't cut your own hair just because you can watch a how to video on YouTube. You would not represent yourself in a legal matter because you found some information online.

A family vacation is a significant investment of your time and your money. It is also one of the most meaningful things you do together.

A travel advisor brings firsthand knowledge of the destinations you are considering. I know what the photos are not showing you. I know which room categories actually work for a family of four and which ones look fine on paper and feel cramped in person. I know how to sort through all the options and help you narrow down which ones fit your needs best.

I also know what happens when something goes wrong and how to fix it. That knowledge is not something a booking website can offer you.

Working with me does not cost you more. It costs you less in stress, less in avoidable mistakes, and often less in actual dollars when you factor in what I catch before it becomes your problem.

Why is multigenerational travel is one of the fastest growing trends in family vacations?

Something has shifted in family travel over the past few years and I am seeing it in my own bookings.

More families are traveling with grandparents. More grandparents are funding trips for the whole family. More families are choosing one big shared experience over individual gifts for holidays and birthdays.

The research backs this up. Multigenerational travel is one of the fastest growing segments in the industry right now.

And it makes complete sense to me.

Kids grow up fast. The window where everyone is available, willing, and physically able to travel together is smaller than most families realize until it starts to close.

The destinations I recommend most for multigenerational groups are the ones with built-in flexibility. Beaches Resorts for all-inclusive stays where grandparents can move at their own pace while kids have a full waterpark. Disney Cruise Line where programming runs simultaneously for every age so nobody feels like they are compromising their whole trip. And select Walt Disney World resorts where multiple room configurations can be booked near each other so everyone has their own space.

Are September and October the best kept secret in travel?

Every year I watch families scramble for summer availability and pay peak pricing for a more crowded, more stressful version of a trip they could have had in October for significantly less.

Here is what fall actually looks like at the destinations I sell.

Walt Disney World crowds drop noticeably after Labor Day. Wait times are shorter, dining reservations are easier to get, and the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival is running through mid-November which makes EPCOT especially worth a full day. Don't get me wrong, Disney is always busy these days, but you can definitely find pockets of time where the crowds are less.

Caribbean all-inclusive resorts are quieter and frequently offering their best pricing of the year. The weather is warm, the beach is the same, and you are not sharing it with the entire Eastern Seaboard.

Cruise pricing on comparable itineraries is often lower in the fall than summer. Same ships, same ports, better rates.

Please keep in mind this is also hurricane season, so purchasing travel insurance is a must!

For families with high schoolers who have a little scheduling flexibility, a week in September or October is worth a conversation with the school.

Hot take: the destination is rarely what makes or breaks a vacation. The decisions made before you leave home are.

Which resort room actually fits your family size. Whether the dining plan saves you money or costs you more based on how your family actually eats. Whether your travel dates put you in the middle of a festival you did not know about or a crowd level you were not prepared for. Whether the excursion you booked is genuinely right for the ages in your group.

None of that is on the brochure. Most of it is not on the booking website either.

This is the part of trip planning that looks invisible from the outside but shapes everything about how a vacation actually feels when you are in it. And what I try to help clients think about and make sure they understand before arriving!

I think there is a lot of confusion about what a travel advisor actually does.

It is not just booking a hotel room or finding a flight. Anyone can do that.

What I do is understand your family before I recommend anything. Your kids ages, your travel style, your budget, what has worked on past trips and what has not. That conversation shapes every single recommendation I make.

I also know things that websites cannot tell you. Which room types have the best views. Which cruise cabin categories work for a family of four without feeling cramped. Which shore excursions look great in the brochure but are not right for kids under 12.

And when something goes wrong, because occasionally it does, you are not alone. You are calling someone who already knows your booking and is already working on it.

That is what you are actually getting.
