Urbanna Museum & Visitors Center The Town of Urbanna, VA is the proud owner of a First Edition, Third Impression John Mitchell Map, published in 1755. That's right!

Besides being located in the last existing colonial Scottish Factor Store (circa 1766), our museum houses an item many people would travel half-way around the world just to stand in front of. Folks, John Mitchell's Map was used to define the borders of our newly formed country, following the Revolutionary War. AND, the map's creator, John Mitchell, lived right here in Urbanna, Virginia!

The Town would like to take a moment to recognize the passing of Geri Reyes, who faithfully served the Town of Urbanna for many years as a docent at the museum, tour guide, and clerk.
Geri recently started assisting us at the town office, and she threw herself into learning her new role. We quickly realized that she truly cared about doing a great job, and we were excited about having such a dedicated member of the team. Geri carried out her duties with care, professionalism, and genuine warmth.
A town as small as ours is held together by the people who show up day after day and give their best. Geri was one of those people, and her absence will be felt deeply by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.
