IT'S WILD BILL DAYS NEXT WEEKEND!
The LaSalle County Historical Society, Mendota Museum & Historical Society and the Village of Troy Grove invite the community to commemorate its native son, the renowned Wild Bill Hickok, during the Wild Bill Days Celebration May 30 & May 31, 2026, across LaSalle County. A variety of family-friendly activities are scheduled, including historical re-enactments, live performances, special exhibits, and more.
The event will feature attractions in Mendota, Troy Grove, and Utica, with a complimentary trolley service operating continuously between all three locations.
· Mendota: Walt Willey will portray Wild Bill Hickok in “End of the Trail,” with two daily performances at the Mendota Museum & Historical Society.
· Troy Grove: Guests may visit the birthplace of Wild Bill Hickok and enjoy daily presentations of “Life & Times of James Butler Hickok” by the Old West Regulators near Wild Bill Hickok State Park.
· Utica: Buffalo Bill’s Best of the Wild West Show will offer an 80-minute live arena performance showcasing horse acts, rolling stock, trick shooters, and legendary performers who defined the original Wild West extravaganza. Additionally, The LaSalle County HS will present a special exhibit on Wild Bill Hickok.
