We've been a little quiet around here. There's a reason. 👀

Apparently, learning WordPress and building a fully functional website from scratch is not quite as simple as clicking a few buttons. Who knew? 😂

I've spent the last several weeks behind the scenes building a new home for WanderWise's polar and expedition travel adventures.

Is it perfect? Nope.
Am I still learning? Absolutely.
Does everything work? I believe so! 🤞

But I'm excited to finally share it!

Alaska was not my dream trip.

It was Scott's.

After his cancer diagnosis, our big motorcycle trip no longer made sense, so we started looking at something easier on his body. He had talked about Alaska for years, and once we booked it, he counted down every single day.

I watched him take in the mountains, glaciers, wildlife, and water with so much wonder. And every night after dinner, he'd get cobbler and ice cream and walk across the deck with the biggest smile.

That trip changed something in me. It's a big part of why I became a travel advisor.
Because sometimes travel is not just a vacation. Sometimes it's the thing someone has been holding onto.

Four future WanderWise group trips are taking shape.

I’m not announcing the destinations yet.
But I’ll give you clues:

🥾 One has more glaciers than anyone knows what to do with.
🥾 One sits where the earth is literally pulling apart.
🥾 One was built with stonework so precise you can’t slide a credit card between the blocks.
🥾 One has a giant 2,000+ mile mountain range that divides the continent into East and West.

👉They are for curious travelers who want wild places, good guides, comfort, wonder, and something real to look forward to.

I know what waiting does.

It tells you there will be more time.
That next year might be easier.
That someday will still be there when life settles down.

But life does not always settle down the way we hope.

And sometimes the trips we dream about are not really about checking off a destination.
They are about feeling alive again.
Remembering who you are.
Giving yourself something beautiful in the middle of hard things.

That’s why I’m building these future group trips around people who are tired of leaving the big trip in the someday file.

Not for “I just need a beach chair” people.
Not for anyone who wants to turn Alaska into a floating mall.

These are for people who want wildlife, wonder, comfort, good guides, and a trip that actually feels like something.

Someday is not a travel plan.

Neither is waiting for work to calm down.
Or for someone else to be ready.
Or for life to magically get easier.

Later is sneaky.

Iceland in winter is not where I’d recommend winging it.

Could you rent a car, chase waterfalls, hope for Northern Lights, and build the whole thing yourself?

Sure.

Would I recommend that for most travelers in March?

Nope.

One Iceland winter trip worth a 👀 runs March 15–19, 2027, Reykjavik round-trip, currently showing at $2,999 per person.

Here’s why I like it: it gives you a structured, premium active way to experience Iceland in winter without turning the trip into a weather-and-road-condition side hustle.

This is not a deep Iceland trip.
It is not the full Ring Road.
It is not for the person who wants total freedom and long photography stops.

This is for the person who wants waterfalls, winter landscapes, geothermal water, a small-group feel, Northern Lights chances, comfort, and logistics handled.

Northern Lights are never guaranteed.

Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling fairy dust in a parka.

But for a first Iceland winter trip, I like this style because the trip is tight, guided, and realistic.

This is who I’d send: active couples, solo travelers, and busy people who want Iceland in winter but do not want to become their own transportation manager, weather analyst, and aurora therapist.

Amanda’s Expedition Pick: Shark Conservation in Belize

When I mentioned this Belize shark conservation expedition to Scott, his face immediately went: 🤨

Then he said, “You can’t even get in the water.”

Which is fair.

I am not exactly giving “calm, graceful marine mammal” energy.

But also, this trip does not say anything about casually tossing me into the ocean like shark confetti.

This is a 7-day Expedition in Belize where travelers help researchers study shark populations, movement, and fishing pressure in coastal waters.

And honestly?

I would absolutely take this trip.

Because sharks are awesome.

Also wicked cool! 😎

This is the kind of expedition travel I love talking about because it stretches people’s idea of what “expedition” can mean.

It is not Antarctica.
It is not ice.
It is not parkas.
It is not a luxury cruise pretending to be rugged.

It is Belize, turquoise water, barrier reef, seagrass flats, coral patches, local fisheries, field research, conservation, and sharks.

Participants may help set and haul longlines, measure and tag sharks, and record research data.

Why does that matter?

Because sharks help keep marine ecosystems in balance, but these same waters also support coastal fishing communities. This research happens where conservation and real life overlap — which is exactly what makes it interesting.

This is not a trip for someone who wants to simply observe the world.

It is for someone who wants to participate in understanding it.

Would Scott remain suspicious?

Absolutely.

Would I still go?

Also absolutely.

If you like wildlife, warm-weather adventure, conservation, and trips that make people say, “Wait, you did what?” — this one deserves a look.
