Harmonizing Canvas and Choir: Nebraska Impact Artists Bring "Color of Music, Rhythm of Art" to Valentine
The parallel universes of music and visual art often echo each other. Both touch our emotions, following a rhythmic flow as composition melodically repeats, builds, and rises to a crescendo. Like a composer, the visual artist must harmoniously orchestrate the pulse of dancing shapes, values, and colors. When you pause to listen, you might just visualize the color of music or feel the rhythm of art.
This September, local art lovers will have the chance to experience that intersection firsthand. The Sand Painters Art Club, in partnership with the Valentine Public Library, is hosting the Nebraska Impact Artists’ music-themed exhibition titled “Color of Music, Rhythm of Art.”
The exhibition features 25 original works exploring the sensory connection between visual imagery and sound. Among the featured statewide artists are four locals from the Sandhills region: Roberta Barnes, David Dorsey, Pat Schemmer, and Joan Swim.
The artwork is available for public viewing during regular library business hours throughout the month of September.
Special Evening Reception & Youth Choir Performance
To celebrate the exhibition, a community reception will take place on Tuesday, September 29, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Valentine Public Library.
Highlights of the evening include:
Live Choral Performance: The Valentine High School Choir will perform three special musical selections beginning at 6:00 PM.
Artist Reception: Attendees can view the artwork, meet local contributors, and enjoy complimentary refreshments.
The event is free and open to the public. Community members of all ages are invited to experience how color, line, and sound come together in this collaborative presentation.
