Now that’s a dive! 😳🦈

Everyone came up with some nice teeth on this one.

Several beautiful megs in the 4 1/2” to just-under-5” range… and then a super rare giant ground sloth claw to top it all off. 🔥

Megs are what everyone comes looking for, but you never know what else the Venice Boneyard is going to give up.

One heck of a dive!

The most common megalodon tooth we find… a broken one. 🦈

Megalodons had an incredibly powerful bite, and we find tons of teeth with broken tips, blades, roots, or other damage.

Everyone wants that perfect giant, but the reality of fossil hunting is you’re going to find a whole lot of heartbreakers along the way. 😆

Still a piece of prehistoric history — and still cool every time.

Rob scored this beautiful juvenile mammoth tooth out in the Venice Boneyard.

Megs might get most of the attention, but finds like this are what make fossil diving in Venice so much fun. You truly never know what piece of prehistoric history you’re going to uncover.

Look for shapes, not teeth. 👀

The baby grunts were back to help with the hunt, but this is exactly why I’m always telling our divers to slow down.

Work the pockets. Look through the silt, bones and rubble. Train your eye to notice an edge or a shape that just doesn’t belong.

Only a little bit of this meg was showing from inside the reef — the rest was completely hidden.

Slow down and really look. That’s how you find the ones most people swim right past. 🦈
