Continuing our celebration of 25 years:
Meet your neighbors, the Main Street Vermilion Board Members.

Scott Dommin was born in Honolulu but grew up in Ohio and graduated from Vermilion High School in 1975. He studied photography at THE Ohio State University and graduated in 1979.

As a commissioned officer in the US Air Force, Scott earned his navigator wings in 1981. He flew into tropical storms as a Hurricane Hunter in the Atlantic Ocean and a Typhoon Chaser in the Pacific Ocean. He was the navigator on a mission that established the Guinness world record for “most rapid intensification of a tropical storm”. He was awarded 4 Air Medals and 2 Air Force Commendation medals for his service. After the Air Force, Scott became an air traffic controller at the Boston Center, directing aircraft over southern New England and Long Island. Upon retirement, he moved back to Vermilion.

Scott has been on the Main Street Vermilion Board of Directors for 13 years, serving as the representative for the Arts Guild of Vermilion. He has significant roles in Light Up Vermilion, Chalk It Up, Ice-A-Fair, and the Community Art Show, as well as providing photographic support to other events and groups, and was presented with Heritage Ohio’s “Volunteer of the Year” award in 2021.

As an avid amateur photographer, Scott can usually be found at the Main Street Beach during any decent sunset. His current interest is in combining his curiosity in astronomy with photography by taking long exposure photographs of celestial objects. His photographs have been published in books, magazines, and newspapers, and he has won photo contests held by the Ohio Lake Erie Commission, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and the US Air Force. He does freelance photography for the Vermilion Photojournal.

With his deep Vermilion roots, creative eye, and years of service to Main Street Vermilion, Scott continues to share his talents in ways that help capture and celebrate the character of the community he calls home.

We're giving you a first look at The Fish at Showse Park! It arrived Thursday and a few of our best critics gave it an A+ before the caution tape went up. The Vermilion Parks Department is working to add a thick layer of mulch around the structure and soon after, it will be open for all to enjoy. Thanks to the following: Artist Virginia Kistler, Fabricator Sean Mercer, Showse Park Revitalization and Transformation Project committees and council president Jeff Lucas, the Parks Department and Board and a long list of donors who helped make this possible. Continuing our celebration of 25 years, A New Series:
Meet your neighbors, the Main Street Vermilion Board Members.

Linda Bodjiak’s Main Street Vermilion journey began with something simple: passing out bags and Rice Krispy treats at Light Up Vermilion. She quickly found herself wanting to do more. She joined the Light Up Vermilion planning committee, became one of Santa’s elves handing out toys to children, and eventually joined the Operations Committee, where she helped with planning the Volunteer Picnic.

That early involvement grew into a larger role with Main Street Vermilion. Linda joined the MSV Board in 2025 and took on the role of Volunteer Coordinator. She has continued to be involved in many of the organization’s events and activities, including serving as a docent at Breje Inn during the 2025 Home Tours, working the Main Street Vermilion table at Market in the Park on several Saturdays, and helping maintain the Welcome to Vermilion garden on Liberty Avenue at the east end of town.

In 2026, Linda joined the committee planning Vermilion’s first Lantern Parade, coming up November 7. She also helped children create lanterns during MSV’s 25th Anniversary celebration.

Linda moved to Vermilion in 2022, and as a new member of the community, she made it a priority to get involved. Her first Vermilion community event was Light Up Vermilion, where she met “so many kind and fun people.” She knew then that she wanted to become part of Main Street Vermilion and its work in the community.

As Linda continued volunteering, she learned more about MSV and eventually found herself in the right place at the right time when a Board seat became available. She accepted the opportunity and has enjoyed being part of the Board ever since, along with the many events and activities that bring her into the heart of the community.

In 2024, Linda retired from NASA after a more than 30-year career as a government attorney. Now, she enjoys putting her time and experience toward helping make Vermilion a welcoming, active, and connected community.

We’re celebrating!

Main Street Vermilion is honored to receive the 2026 Best Main Street Event Award from Heritage Ohio for our Guest House Tour!

The award was presented September 30 during Heritage Ohio’s annual awards ceremony in Cincinnati, recognizing outstanding projects, events, and people making a difference through historic preservation and community revitalization.

Our Guest House Tour was created to showcase Vermilion’s distinctive lodging properties while bringing visitors downtown and supporting local tourism, historic preservation and our small businesses.

We are so proud of the Event Chairs, Carolyn Hill and Molly Romp, countless MSV volunteers, property owners: The Old Vermilion Jailhouse Bed and Breakfast, Gilchrist Guesthouse Bed & Breakfast, Breje Inn, Captain Bell Bed & Breakfast, The Lake House and The Ohio Street Cottage as well as our community partners who helped make this event such a success. This award belongs to all of you!

Thank you, Heritage Ohio, for recognizing the Guest House Tour and the work happening here in Vermilion. We love showing people what makes our Small Town. Great Lake. community so special!
