What do cultural institutions contribute to a community over generations?

Since 1976, the Victoria Bach Festival has brought extraordinary music and musicians to our community, becoming a part of Victoria’s cultural identity but its impact goes far beyond concert halls.

Over five decades, VBF has:

🎻 Brought nationally and internationally acclaimed musicians to Victoria.
🎓 Created opportunities for students and emerging musicians.
🎶 Connected local musicians with professional artists.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Offered family-friendly concerts, outreach programs, open rehearsals, and educational opportunities.
🤝 Built partnerships with other local organizations, cultural institutions and community supporters.
🌎 Helped introduce visitors from across Texas and beyond to Victoria.

Fifty years later, this festival isn't just something that happens in Victoria. It is part of Victoria.

Maybe that is the true measure of a cultural institution: not simply the events it presents, but the memories it creates, the people it inspires, and the traditions it passes from one generation to the next.

And the melody continues...

Hispanic heritage is an important part of the story of the Coastal Bend—and that history can be found right here in Victoria, Texas.

From Martín de León and the 41 Mexican families who founded Guadalupe Victoria in 1824 to the traditions of the Mexican and Mestizo vaqueros who influenced Texas ranching, these stories are an important part of our shared history.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we invite you to celebrate and connect with the history that helped shape our community at the Museum of the Coastal Bend where visitors can discover the stories of Spanish exploration, Mexican settlement, and the people who helped shape the region we call home.
