Visit Martha's Vineyard

Visit Martha's Vineyard "If the world was perfect it would be a lot like Martha’s Vineyard." Tom Neal Tacker, author

About an hour's drive from Boston, the island of Martha's Vineyard is a true New England vacation gem. Naturally beautiful with picturesque cliffs, beautiful beaches, rolling hills, and scenic flatlands, the Island is enhanced by warm-to-hot temperatures in the summer, a profusion of color from the diverse tree and bird life in the fall, crisp air and cozy hideaways in the winter, and the blossoming hues of flora in spring.

One of the most meaningful traditions of summer on Martha's Vineyard is the opportunity to come together in reflection, celebration, and community.

On June 21, Union Chapel welcomes Rev. Willie Bodrick II, Senior Pastor of Boston's historic Twelfth Baptist Church, for a special Juneteenth service. Known for his leadership in ministry, civic engagement, and social justice, Rev. Bodrick brings a message rooted in faith, service, and the ongoing pursuit of opportunity and equity.

Whether you're a longtime Island resident or visiting for the season, this annual gathering offers a chance to connect with an important part of the Vineyard's cultural and spiritual life.

Part of what makes Martha's Vineyard so special is its deep history, enduring traditions, and the community that continues to shape them. On June 19, the MVCMA - Martha's Vineyard Camp Meeting Association invites Islanders and visitors alike to gather at the iconic Tabernacle in Oak Bluffs for its Juneteenth Flag Raising Celebration.

The free public event honors Juneteenth, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States, with speakers, music, reflection, and the raising of the Juneteenth flag in one of the Island's most historic and meaningful settings.

Whether you are visiting for the day or have spent summers here for generations, moments like these offer a deeper connection to the stories, people, and traditions that make Martha's Vineyard what it is.
