Only a few spots are left for our two Cherokee Cultural Classes tomorrow, March 27!

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Cherokee textile artist Eva Cantrell will be teaching a class on how to sew a pair of ribbon pants at the Cherokee Nation Anna Mitchell Cultural & Welcome Center.

From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., The Saline Courthouse Museum is hosting a wild onion gathering and cooking class. Students will learn Cherokee traditional foodways from ethnobiology expert Feather Smith and participate in a live cooking demonstration from Chef Taelor Barton.

Get creative with family and friends this Spring Break!

Join us for Spring Break Make & Takes on Thursday, March 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Seven of our attractions across the Cherokee Nation will offer free, hands-on crafts rooted in Cherokee cultural knowledge and creativity.

Each location will feature a different activity designed to engage visitors of all ages. Staff will be on site to assist participants and guide each activity. Guests are encouraged to visit one location or travel between sites to experience multiple activities throughout the day.

A day for new perspectives and insights about the history of Cherokee Freedmen, through a reception, panel, genealogy talk and exhibit, is coming to the Cherokee Nation Anna Mitchell Cultural & Welcome Center in Vinita, Oklahoma.

On Saturday, February 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., we invite you to view the unique, deeply moving exhibit “We Are Cherokee: Cherokee Freedmen and the Right to Citizenship,” engage in a panel discussion, and attend a Freedmen family history talk with Senior Genealogist Gene Norris.
