To all of our followers and past/future guests:
There are many rumors currently surrounding Maui vacation rentals, and we want to set the record straight and separate fact from fiction.
It’s true, there is a proposed ban on short term rentals for many Maui properties, including ours. The proposed bill has passed one phase of committee, but it is not yet a law. And even if it does become law, it will be immediately met with many lawsuits, and likely injunctions, as STR owners will challenge the constitutionality of the law. Either way, the ban, if the bill does pass, would not go into effect until 2031.
Regardless of how this turns out, the potential implications are years down the road. Whether the people of Maui realize it or not, they rely heavily on tourism dollars from visitors who stay in vacation rentals, eat in the local restaurants, and support other local businesses. Please help us limit the spread of disinformation as this proposed legislation works its way through the system.
Maui is not closed, and short term rentals are not banned. The truth is this: Maui is open, ready for business, and excited to welcome you with warm Aloha!
Sincerely,
Mike & Stephanie Jeffers
