Storytime with Suzanne continues along the Danube...

Today’s unique excursion was a cooking class with Karl Wrenkh. Karl and his brother Leo may not be household names to most of you, but anyone who has sailed on Avalon Waterways has experienced their influence. Karl and Leo are the creators of the Avalon Fresh items on your dinner menu. This partnership with Avalon focuses on high-quality, regionally sourced food, with an emphasis on vegetarian cooking.

In our hands-on cooking class today we made bean soup, risotto, fried eggplant, chopped flavorful tomatoes to go along with a pea guacamole and a chocolate mousse. All vegetarian.

Looking for an amazing multi-generational journey? Last week, the new Disney Destiny reached an exciting milestone as it touched water for the first time! The "float up" process involved filling the building dock with water from the Ems River in Germany, lifting the ship from the chamber floor. Now, the team will begin testing various systems, including the main engines, while continuing to build out the legendary interior spaces!

It's maiden voyage is set for this November - rotating 4 and 5-night sailings from Fort Lauderdale - and sailings on now available to book with our team!

Schöner Náci isn’t just a statue — he’s Bratislava’s most charming reminder that elegance and kindness transcend time. By day, you’ll find him tipping his top hat in the Old Town pedestrian zone, offering an imagined bouquet and the timeless greeting, “I kiss your hand,” in Slovak, German, and Hungarian.

Born Ignác Lamár to humble roots, he spent his life transforming simple moments into acts of grace — singing to strangers, bowing to passersby, and sharing warmth even as he faced hardship. His legacy of generosity lives on in this smiling bronze figure, unveiled in 1997 as a celebration of Bratislava’s spirit: joyful, unexpected, and endlessly welcoming.
