Where to even begin?! What a day on our Bonnie Scotland Tour by Globus. The day started with tea and shortbread (then a blueberry scone for lunch) at Scone Palace...where monarchs for generations were corronated. No pics allowed inside but the outside gives you an idea.

We then headed to St. Andrew's, the home of golf, where we hit some balls before visiting the stunningly green Old Course. Highlight for sure!

Our Globus optional excusion took us to the dual harbor town of Stonehaven where we learned about the really unique fireball throwing tradition on New Year's Eve to make way for new spirits. Had a wee dram at The Ship Inn before exploring the two harbors. One was lined with ships at dock, the other with flowers (and lots of pollenators) and unique sculptures!

Got to see Dunnottar Castle ruins briefly before the haar (Norse word for mist and fog) quickly rolled in to completely block our view of the castle and North Sea.

Jacobite vs. Red Coats and the fight to restore Bonny Prince Charlie to the throne. History abound at Culloden Moor and Battlefield site. The walk around the battlefield is worth it to take a moment and visit the Clan markers (hello Jamie Fraser IYKYK). Inside be sure to listen to the guide talks too!

Globus really has us on the move today! Took a ferry to Isle of Skye and learned about their Norse history, Gaelic language preservation and the lore of Saucy Mary.

After crossing the 1.5 mile Skye Bridge back to the mainland, we passed Eilean Donan Castle from the Highlander movie (there can be only one).

Onto Loch Ness where I looked and looked for Nessie the Loch Ness Monster but she must have been napping in the dreary weather.

Cheered myself up with some whiskey gelato from Miele's in Inverness!

Hello Harry Potter fans! Recognize these scenes? Glenfinnan is a historical site but also on the Harry Potter Heritage Trail...the only heritage trail to a person that doesn't exist. Then...what a surprise! Come into Mallaig Harbor for lunch to find the actual Hogwarts Express (the Jacobite) was in station! Took a peek inside...someone understood the assignment!

Busy few days!
Afternoon tea at the famous Willow Tea Rooms...and a little chocolate cake for dessert yesterday. We had good morning on Loch Lomond which reaches 600+ feet deep and welcomes seasonal osprey. A nice kickoff to our Globus Bonnie Scotland tour. Next, Suz and I overlooked the countryside from Stirling Castle, but the Queen Ann Garden was my favorite part of the castle!
Lastly, Globus set us up for a wee dram at Stirling Distillery and I learned a lot about the official spirit of Scotland, William Wallace and Robert the Bruce!
