Life is just better from the seat of a bicycle. , , . History: Bicycle Adventures was begun in 1984 with one van and a multi-day bicycle tour of Washington’s San Juan Islands. The original owners added new Northwest destinations over time, growing the company to 100+ tour departures. In 2008 Bicycle Adventures was purchased by Todd Starnes and Brad Barnard, two Seattle-area businessmen with deep roots in the bicycling and bike racing industry. The duo moved company headquarters to Redmond, Washington and have continued to expand to new destinations and experiment with new types of tours. Today Bicycle Adventures’ tour offerings include over 60 destinations with some 200+ departure dates.

"Great tour. Lovely variety of routes- urban and rural. Delicious food across the board, especially the daily lunches. The guides are top notch- kind, patient, and supportive. The accommodations were very good. Highly recommend." — Paula S., Arizona Sonora Tour

Ride beneath 10,000-foot peaks and towering saguaro cacti through the land of the Sky Islands. Explore the Sonora Desert Museum, tackle Mt. Lemmon (or coast through Sabino Canyon), wander the limestone depths of Kartchner Caverns, and pedal into bohemian Bisbee — all with fully supported rides and can't-miss stops along the way. 🌵

At Joshua Tree National Park, the golden rock outcroppings and those iconic, otherworldly trees light up in a way at sunset that honestly doesn't look real. It’s a view that makes you stop pedaling just to stare.

And that's the thing about touring by bike with a support van and guides: you don't have to choose between chasing the sunset and getting where you're going. Stay out until the sky does its thing, then hop in the support van and enjoy a smooth ride to a hotel for the night. No rushing the moment, no riding in the dark. Just sunset, dinner, then rest. 🚐✨

2026 dates open now, starting Nov 1st: https://bicycleadventures.com/tours/joshua-tree-anza-borrego-multisport-tour/

Meet Villarrica Volcano: one of only a handful of volcanoes on Earth with an active lava lake inside its crater. 🌋

Locally known as Rucapillán — "House of the Pillán" in the Mapuche language — this snow-capped giant rises nearly 9,000 feet above the town and lake that share its name. It's one of South America's most active volcanoes, constantly venting a plume of gas that's visible for miles, with molten rock churning just beneath its glaciated summit. The crater itself spans 200 meters across, with lava temperatures reaching up to 1,250°C.

You won't just see Villarrica from a distance on our Chile Lakes & Volcanoes tour—you'll ride right up its flanks, pedaling through Villarrica National Park with the volcano looming larger with every mile.

“Riding a bicycle on paths along tulip fields I experience a true "taste" of the region, smelling the fragrant flowers, and hearing the bleating of lambs in the fields. Unpacking just once on the barge and getting to know both my fellow riders AND the crew is delightful.” ~ Angela S.

We're hosting two more Netherlands Bike and Barge Tours this coming March and April. Find all the details: https://bicycleadventures.com/tours/netherlands-spring-tulip-bike-and-barge-tour/

Meet your guide: Lori Vandenbrink

Lori grew up in the Yakima Valley, climbing apple trees and riding bikes through the foothills of the Cascades—and never really stopped. Now she lives, eats, and breathes biking in Leavenworth, WA, where she and her husband coached their town's middle and high school mountain bike team for years. Their son Tobin raced downhill mountain bikes at the professional level and is now a bike guide himself (and still Lori's personal cycling hero 🚵). He also inspired Lori to pick up a gravel bike, which recently took her on her first bikepacking trip from Corvallis to the Coast.

When she's not guiding, she's chasing mountain bluebirds and wildflowers on foot or bike, or backcountry skiing in the off-season. 🏔️

Lori guides our North Cascades to Leavenworth Bike Tour in her own backyard, our Netherlands Spring Tulip Bike & Barge in her grandparents' homeland, and Joshua Tree & Anza Borrego Multisport for a little winter escape. ☀️🌵
