This morning I was thinking about how much I absolutely love what I do. I am so fortunate.

I love talking to people about travel. I love hearing about their wish list. Helping them turn those thoughts into actual plans is so much fun! I love hearing the excitement in their voices when they book a trip they've been thinking about for years. And I cannot wait to hear all about it when they return home.

I think that excitement planning my own trips was one of the main reasons I jumped into this career. Counting down the days. Heading to the airport like a kid on Christmas morning. And the fact that I do not have to food shop or cook while I’m away is a huge perk!

Not surprising, I’m a little obsessed with travel. The food. The history. The scenery. The people.

It will never get old. No matter how many places I visit, there are moments when I look around and think “I can't believe this is my life.” I still get excited every single time.

I was riding a bike through Athens Greece (let's be clear, it was an E-bike… we're not getting crazy with the exercise on vacation😂).

I remember looking around at the beautiful buildings, flowers, and history all around me and thinking I can’t believe I was really there. I was so thankful that I am able to do this.

I have those moments all the time.

After 12 years, what amazes me most isn't how much travel I've done. It’s how many people have trusted me to be part of THEIR travel stories.

These are the moments, feelings and the stories I want for all of you. I don’t want to help you plan just a “vacation” or a “trip”.
I want you to have those moments where you're standing somewhere amazing and you pause for a moment to take it all in and say “WOW”.

Travel has given me so much joy over the years, and I love helping others experience that same feeling. It introduces us to new people, new foods, new perspectives, and sometimes even new versions of ourselves.

Everyone deserves to experience something bigger than their everyday routine. Travel does that. It reminds us how big and beautiful the world is. And we all deserve to experience it.

When I can help make that happen for someone else, then that makes me happy.🩵

When most people think about traveling to Europe, they picture the busy summer months of June, July, and August.

But some of my favorite travel experiences have happened during shoulder season. This is the period between peak season and the off-season.

For many European destinations, that means Spring (April-May) and Fall (September-October)

Why do I love shoulder season?

There are smaller crowds at popular attractions

The temperatures are more comfortable for sightseeing

The availability at hotels and restaurants is usually much better.

You usually have a more relaxed experience.

Strolling through a charming Italian piazza, exploring a Greek island, or wandering the streets of a European city without the intense summer heat and peak-season crowds is the way I love to travel.

Don't get me wrong, summer travel has its advantages. But if your schedule is flexible, shoulder season is often when the magic happens.

Did you know becoming a gondolier in Venice isn't as easy as applying for a job?

There are only a limited number of licenses, and those looking to become a gondoliers go through extensive training that includes rowing techniques, navigation, local history, and even foreign languages.

Historically, the profession was often passed down through families.

The gondoliers are very skilled. So many times I thought for sure we could hit a wall, or another gondola. And each time they gracefully avoided the obstacles.

One of many funny memories I have from my travel adventures. this one happened in Mykonos, Greece. 🇬🇷

We took the public bus into Mykonos Town (which, by the way, was easy, inexpensive, and a great way to get around).
The first thing we saw were the famous windmills overlooking the sea.

After checking out the windmills and taking 582 photos from every angle, we headed into town to explore.

If you've never been to Mykonos Town, the streets are a maze of narrow whitewashed pathways, tiny shops, restaurants, and hidden corners. It's beautiful.

So we wandered. And wandered. And wandered some more.

Eventually, we escaped from the maze feeling pretty accomplished. The only issue is that we found ourselves staring at the windmills again. 😂

After about 15 minutes of walking, we had somehow managed to make a giant circle and end up exactly where we started.

Travel doesn't always go according to plan, but sometimes those are the moments you remember most.

Travel Tip Monday ☀️

One thing I never recommend skipping? Travel insurance.

Most travelers think about needing to cancel for a family emergency or illness or canceled flights, but travel insurance can also help with lost luggage, medical emergencies, travel delays, and unexpected interruptions.

Travel is an investment. Protecting it gives you one less thing to worry about while you're making memories.

Since May is Mental Health Awareness Month, I wanted to discuss this. Not in a trauma dump kind of way 😊 but discuss the little things that help us feel more connected and grounded. Things that bring us back to our authentic selves. Travel is definitely one of those things for me.

Life can get “lifey” sometimes and it’s difficult to focus on anything other than the reality that’s being dished out to us on that particular day. Travel doesn’t fix everything that life brings our way but it can help us to slow down and focus on the simple things in life. It also helps that we are physically and mentally apart from our reality for a bit and we can leave it behind us while we are in a new location. Like Jimmy Buffet said, “Changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes”. I always felt that.

It’s the little things when traveling that help me decompress the most. Long dinners where nobody is rushing (and bonus that I don’t have to plan or cook!). In Europe it’s easy to wander around with no agenda. I loved doing this in Venice! No plans. No schedule. Just exploring. Getting lost in the back alleys was the best. Laughing with family and friends over random things. And just disconnecting from all the distractions in our life.

Even if you cannot get to Europe or the Caribbean, you can escape for a weekend locally. We did that a few weeks ago when we headed to Ocean City Maryland for the weekend. It was so nice doing NOTHING! And if that’s not possible, clear a weekend and disconnect and take time for yourself to read a book, binge watch a show or have dinner with a friend.

Even outside of travel, I think we all need more kindness, rest, laughter, connection, fresh air and things to look forward to.
So this is just your reminder to take care of yourself however you can. Even in small ways. If anyone ever needs to talk, I’m here

Love my flip flops!

When I travel, I love seeing the landmarks, the beautiful views, and all of the touristy stuff. However, it’s the PEOPLE I meet that I remember the most.

One of the amazing members in my Facebook travel Group posted about her guide in Ireland and it made me think of all the great people I have met on my travels.

Some of the most meaningful parts of a trip come from the conversations and connections you make along the way.

One thing I love about using local guides and private drivers is that you get so much more than transportation or someone pointing at buildings and explaining facts.

You get stories, perspectives, humor, culture, recommendations, history, and little moments you would never experience otherwise.

In Sorrento, our driver asked where we were from. When we said near Philadelphia, he immediately laughed and told us people always say he looks like Rocky Balboa 😂 Naturally, that started a whole conversation and had us laughing.

In Ravello, we spent time with an incredible sommelier talking about wine, food, culture, and life in Italy. He may or may not have ignored my requests to stop pouring wine 🍷 Let’s just say I was VERY happy by the end of that tasting.

And in Greece, we had such an interesting conversation with our guide about the historical connections between Greece and Italy, including how many Italians have Greek ancestry. I learned so much from him and he made me laugh when he told me I may be more Greek than he is lol.

Lastly, we had a wonderful tour guide in Athens who was an opera singer! He sang for us so beautifully. Also discussed his family in Greece.

Those are the moments I remember most.

Travel becomes so much more meaningful when you slow down, ask questions, and connect with the people who actually live there. It reminds you how much we all have in common, even when we come from completely different places and backgrounds.

The human connections are what make the world feel a little smaller and a little kinder 🌍✨
