🚢 Disney Cruise Line is making a BIG commitment to San Diego… and after experiencing it for ourselves, we completely understand why.
On this week’s episode of The DIS Unlimited’s DCL Show, we’re sharing our full trip reports from a Disney Wonder sailing out of San Diego and discussing why this beautiful Southern California city may be one of the most convenient and enjoyable cruise departure ports Disney Cruise Line offers.
Disney recently announced an expanded agreement with the Port of San Diego that will keep Disney ships sailing from the city through at least 2031. Even more exciting, both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will be sailing from San Diego during the 2026-2027 season, giving guests more options than ever before.
But what is it actually like to cruise from San Diego?
We break down everything from arriving at the airport and getting to the terminal, to embarkation day aboard the Disney Wonder, dining, entertainment, staterooms, and our experiences in port.
And speaking of ports…
🌴 Catalina Island absolutely stole the show.
From the moment we stepped ashore in Avalon, we were struck by how different it felt from a typical cruise stop. Charming streets, beautiful waterfront views, local shops, great food, and a laid-back California island vibe made this one of the most memorable ports we’ve visited in a long time.
🇲🇽 We also discuss Ensenada, Mexico, including what to expect, things to do, how walkable it is, and whether it’s worth exploring on your own or through a Port Adventure.
Onboard, we revisit one of Disney Cruise Line’s classic ships—the Disney Wonder.

We also cover several entertainment updates Disney Cruise Line recently announced, including new Frozen-themed experiences coming to Alaska sailings this summer, expanded deck parties, and the new Broadway Stars Series featuring performers from Broadway and the West End.
