Argentina's northwest may be known for its high-altitude wines and cacti valleys, but just outside Salta, it’s about settling into estancia life.

With the little ones in tow, ride out with a gaucho on horseback, following easy trails on horses calm enough for even younger riders to find their confidence.

Back at the house, gather in the kitchen. Little hands make pastry, learning by doing, while you fold traditional empanadas. You'll pick up all the details so you can recreate them for family dinners once you're back home.

It's not about getting it perfect but doing it side by side. Explore more of our family journeys at https://extraordinaryjourneys.com/journeys?companion=Family.

When EJ traveler Madeleine joined a small group of women on a journey to Kenya in support of our foundation, she came home with a profound sense of connection with women whose lives were nothing like her own and yet, in a very human way, felt deeply familiar.

Her reflection on the journey is honest and moving. On Menstrual Hygiene Day, we’re sharing her story and reflecting on the power of travel to connect us in ways we don’t always anticipate.

Lara, our Senior Destination Specialist and a Condé Nast Top Travel Specialist, has always been drawn to the more stripped-back side of safari.

For her, it’s about the thrill of the unknown. And in a world that’s constantly scheduled, a safari offers something rare: the chance to see how it all unfolds.

When we talk safari, it usually brings to mind Africa. But it offers something different out here in the Australian outback.

We’ve found our version of it in the Flinders Ranges. A heritage property that was once a working sheep station has now been restored into a private reserve. Farmland is being returned to its natural state, with kangaroos, yellow-footed rock wallabies, echidnas, and other native species reclaiming the landscape.

Spend your time on open-top drives along red dirt tracks, or on foot through gorges and across open plains, learning how the land is changing and what it takes to bring it back.

For us, this is where travel becomes more experiential. Start planning your own outback safari at the link in our bio.

Ask our destination specialists how to plan a trip, and we won't hand you a checklist. We'll tell you about a market you should go to at 6am, the season you'll enjoy most based on your interests, who'll love it (and who really won't).

Swipe through for our honest take on Mumbai, in the words of our own Lisa Newby-Fraser, who also happens to be a Condé Nast Top Travel Specialist.

In South Luangwa National Park, you leave the vehicle behind and walk. This is when you start noticing things differently. The alarm calls of birds, fresh leopard tracks in the dry riverbed, the way a guide reads the landscape like words in a book.

In this first-hand account, travel writer Alexandra Owens steps into the birthplace of walking safaris.

People often associate Marrakech with its markets and constant movement. But from time to time, we like to step outside the medina. Just 18 miles from the city is a place set among olive groves and farmland.

Rooms are layered with handwoven Moroccan rugs. Books are stacked in corners. Antique lamps and artwork have been collected over time.

In the morning, take a walk with the local guide and neighbor into the mountains. Come back to a long lunch prepared from what was picked just that morning. Beetroot with blackberry and goat’s cheese, za’atar-roasted carrots with feta and honey.

Later, walk along garden paths that crunch softly under your feet with argan shells. Stretch out on a daybed by the pool surrounded by a 450-strong olive grove. In the evening, head to the rooftop for an aperitif as you admire the Jbilet and Atlas mountains.

For us, it's not about leaving Marrakech behind, but about experiencing a different side to it.

In southern Tanzania, you might spend an hour watching a pride of lions interact, or sit quietly waiting for carmine bee-eaters to leave their nests and catch the light mid-flight.

Because in the Nyerere and Ruaha National Parks, there’s no one else around. And there's nowhere else you need to be.

It’s a part of the country we often suggest when you've been to the Serengeti and or are ready for something wilder and a bit more adventurous.

We've found that when people think about wildlife in Indonesia, they usually default to Komodo National Park or Borneo.

But just east of Bali is another place we recommend. Moyo Island, off the coast of Sumbawa, is remote (we're talking zero crowds) and is home to the second-largest whale shark population in the world. Close to 100 whale sharks swim its waters year-round.

There are just a handful of canvas tents set along a sliver of sand. With a placid bay directly offshore, you can slip straight into the water. Head out toward Saleh Bay at sunrise to spend time in the water with whale sharks. You go with conservation teams who monitor them, so you also understand what it takes to protect them.

In between, we like to hike to Crocodile Head, swim in the spring-fed pools under a waterfall, or head back out after dark for a night snorkel (it's a completely different experience!)

If this is your kind of travel, let's get you there.

Rio has its icons for sure. But there's another side of the city you don't always see on the postcards.

Up in the hills of Santa Teresa, the streets are cobbled and the houses a little worn-in. Artists work with their doors open. The yellow tram rattles past.

This is where we come to experience Rio beyond the beach. In garden-filled hideaways set inside old coffee estates, where you can spend the morning wandering galleries and the evening down in Lapa, listening to live samba.

It’s a different way to experience Rio, but still close enough to dip into its energy whenever you feel like it.
