Recognizing leaders driving artificial intelligence and the digital economy across the GCC.
Omar Al Olama was appointed UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence in 2017, becoming the world's first minister in this field. Before his appointment, he contributed to the development of the UAE's National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, as well as the UAE Centennial 2071 and Fourth Industrial Revolution strategies during his work at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs.
In 2020, his portfolio expanded to include the digital economy and remote work applications, placing him at the center of the UAE's efforts to position itself as a global leader in AI and the digital economy. His expanded mandate reflects the country's broader focus on technology-led economic transformation and the development of a digital economy.
In 2023, Al Olama was also appointed Director General of the Prime Minister's Office and Director General of the Dubai Crown Prince's Office. He serves as Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy and Vice Chair of the World Governments Summit, while also serving on the World Economic Forum's AI Governance Alliance steering committee, contributing to global discussions around the responsible development and governance of artificial intelligence.
Today, Omar Al Olama is one of the key figures shaping the UAE's approach to artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and technology governance, while helping position the country as a global hub for the next generation of digital innovation.
At FCI, we recognize the people shaping the next chapter of global investment.
