I went to Italy alone. I didn't expect to make a friend.
Then I met her — on a playground of all places. 😂 Federica Menichini
She's Tuscan. She knows every back road, every family-run trattoria, every winemaker who will pour you something that isn't on any menu. And somehow, she decided to share all of it with me.
She sat me down for a 13-course dinner. Thirteen. I lost count somewhere between the handmade pasta and the third wine pairing and honestly I have zero regrets.
This is what Tuscany actually is — not the postcard version. The real one. The one where the people are just as beautiful as the countryside.

Tuscany doesn't do subtle.
The hills roll like they know they're being watched. The light hits different at 6pm — golden, thick, almost unfair.
You stop. You take a photo. You know it won't do it justice. You take it anyway.

In Tuscany, beef is not just food — it’s culture. It’s pride. It’s an event.

What you’re looking at is the full journey: from the dry-aging cabinet where Chianina cuts rest and develop their depth of flavor, to a silky beef tartare topped with hazelnuts and crispy bread, to the queen herself — bistecca alla Fiorentina, sliced and served on a hot stone with nothing but rosemary and sea salt.

No sauce. No apology. Just fire, meat, and centuries of tradition.

This is why Tuscany is unlike anywhere else in the world. The Chianina breed has been raised in the Val di Chiana for thousands of years, and when you sit down to a bistecca here, you feel that history.

I said yes before she finished the sentence. 😄
My best friend came to Tuscany with her son — and I got to be her personal guide, planner, chef-finder, driver-wrangler, and hype woman all in one.
And the best part? Our kids got to grow up a little together under the Tuscan sun.
They learned what real gelato tastes like. They ran through medieval streets. They sat at long lunch tables like tiny little Italians who had nowhere else to be.
That's la dolce vita — and yes, your kids can have it too.

Under the Tuscan Sun is a 7-day, fully curated luxury experience in Val d'Orcia, Tuscany — built for travelers who want more than a vacation. They want a transformation.
Over the course of a week, guests stay in a private villa near Montepulciano and experience Tuscany the way most visitors never get to: through the people who actually live it.
