The Waskom Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a First Responders Appreciation Lunch at the Waskom Travel Information Center. This event is an opportunity to show our gratitude to the law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and other first responders who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe. Travelers and community members are welcome to stop by, visit with local first responders, and help us celebrate their dedication and service. We hope to see you there!

Fall festival season is almost here! The Waskom Travel Information Center will be attending the Fall Piney Woods W**e Festival on October 16 and 17. Stop by our booth to pick up free travel guides, maps, stickers, and helpful Texas travel information. We will also have our Safety Specialist on site promoting responsible choices and reminding everyone to never drink and drive. Have fun, stay safe, and plan ahead for a safe ride home. We can't wait to see you there!

On This Day in Texas History, The Siege of Béxar began as Texian forces advanced toward San Antonio de Béxar during the Texas Revolution. The campaign eventually led to a Texian victory later that year and became an important step on Texas' path to independence. Today, San Antonio offers visitors a chance to experience Texas history firsthand. From the Alamo and the San Antonio Missions to museums, historic sites, and cultural attractions, it's a destination where the past comes to life while offering plenty to see and do for the whole family.
