We were so excited to celebrate America 250 in the Heartland right here in Hardee County!

The celebration continues tonight in Pioneer Park at the from 5-7 with live music, food trucks, yard games, pie eating contest at 6:30 and the grand finale FIREWORK show at 9pm. Be sure to listen live on WAUC 102.1

July is Parks & Recreation Month!

We can't think of a better way to celebrate then with the Annual 4th of July Jubilee in Pioneer Park! So much fun to be had and we can't wait to see who WINS our first pie eating contest tomorrow.... will it be you? Sign up at 6:15pm to compete, limited space, don't be late!

Then settle in for amazing live music from Blackbird Anthem and end the night with the firework show @ 9p. Listen online to WAUC 102.1 for Patriotic tunes throughout the day and a special musical compilation just for the fireworks during the show.

Join us on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the Hardee County Civic Center for an evening of patriotism, music, history, and community as we honor the founding of our nation and the values that continue to unite us.

🎣 MILESTONE CATCH 🎣

The Florida Fishing Trail officially welcomes its 1,000th angler!

Congratulations to Jeremiah Naranjo III, a rising senior at Hardee High School, who recently cast his line and became this exciting milestone angler.

Located right here in Hardee County, the Florida Fishing Trail features nine freshwater lakes, including five lakes developed on reclaimed land and four lakes within Hardee Lakes Park. The trail was created through a partnership between Hardee County, The Mosaic Company, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to provide exceptional fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for generations to come.

Thank you, Jeremiah, for being part of this exciting chapter in the Florida Fishing Trail story. Here's to the next 1,000 anglers discovering everything Hardee County has to offer!

The trains may have stopped, but the story continues.

On June 10, 1986, the final train service departed Wauchula, marking the end of nearly a century of rail travel that helped shape our community.

The Wauchula Train Depot first served as a transportation hub connecting Hardee County to the rest of Florida. The current brick depot, constructed in 1915, welcomed passengers, freight, and opportunity for generations.

Today, the historic depot continues to serve the community in a different way. As the home of the Hardee County Chamber of Commerce and a venue for meetings, celebrations, and special events, the building remains a gathering place where memories are still being made.

More than 110 years after it was built, the Wauchula Train Depot stands as a reminder that while times change, community connections endure.
