This isn't a Disney set. 😯 It's a real castle, tucked in the Carpathian Mountains. 🏰🍂

Peleș Castle looks like it was pulled straight out of a fairytale, and in autumn, surrounded by golden forest and mist rolling off the mountains, it's even more surreal. Built in the late 1800s as a summer residence for Romania's royal family, it's packed with ornate hand-carved woodwork and rooms so grand it's hard to believe people actually lived here.

We visit Peleș Castle on our Romania tours. It's one of the most jaw-dropping stops on the whole trip. 🇷🇴

They say this rock isn't a rock at all. It's a giant's thumb.

Old Highland folklore tells of a giant who once roamed the Trotternish Ridge on the Isle of Skye. When he died and was buried, his thumb was left sticking up out of the earth, and that's said to be the jagged pinnacle known today as the Old Man of Storr, which towers nearly 50 meters over the landscape.

Some versions of the tale say the giant was buried standing upright. Others say only a piece of him remains... Either way, standing beneath it, it's easy to believe something ancient is buried there. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
