In South Korea, we came face to face with Yayoi Kusama’s Great Gigantic Pumpkin — an enormous burst of yellow and black from one of Japan’s most celebrated contemporary artists.
Kusama returned to the pumpkin throughout her career, transforming its familiar shape through the endlessly repeating dots that became her unmistakable visual language.
