Sometimes a place just gets to you.
I’ve traveled a lot, and I’ve loved a lot of the places I’ve visited - but every once in a while, you find a place you feel connected to and genuinely don’t want to leave.

Jamaica is one of those places for me. 🇯🇲

I don’t usually get teary-eyed on the drive to the airport, but I did this time. We passed resorts that had been closed following the destruction of Hurricane Melissa last October. Now, they’re in the final stages of rebuilding, with crews outside painting and preparing to welcome guests again soon.

It was such a simple thing to see, but in context, it was powerful.

Jamaica has been through devaststation, yet the people are still some of the kindest and most welcoming you will ever meet. That warmth isn’t something manufactured for tourists - it’s simply part of being here. There really is something special about this island.

I was so fortunate to be invited to the 22nd Annual USA Travel Advisor Golf Tournament with Sandals and to experience a different side of Jamaica. Upton Estate Golf & Country Club is a fun course - whether you’re an experienced golfer (NOT me 😅) or just want to add a round to your trip… Greens fees are included for guests of Sandals Ochi, Sandals Royal Plantation and Sandals Dunn’s River.

Remember when everyone said Disney Cruise Line shouldn’t / wouldn't return to New York because they couldn’t fill the ships the last time they sailed from here?

Well… one quick visit to the Disney Cruise Line website this morning knocked that theory right out of the park.

When searching for a family of four, almost every New York sailing is now down to Concierge-only availability. One seven-night Canada sailing still has a couple of inside staterooms available, but other than that, the regularly priced rooms are gone.

And families of five have even fewer choices. For a family of five, the only availability left is Concierge or the one-way sailing from New York to Puerto Rico.

That Puerto Rico sailing does still have fairly open availability, which is honestly what I expected. For many families, the entire appeal of cruising from New York is being able to drive to the port and avoid today’s outrageous airfare prices. A one-way sailing doesn’t solve that problem because you still have to fly everyone home from Puerto Rico.

Yes, you could add another one-way cruise from Puerto Rico to Florida, but now we’re talking about a much longer and significantly more expensive vacation - and a family of four or five would still need to pay for flights from Florida back to New York (or a rental car).

Maybe Disney struggled to fill its New York sailings in the past, but times have changed. Airfare has become cost-prohibitive for many families, and there is clearly a huge demand for convenient, round-trip cruises from the Northeast - especially for larger families who already have fewer stateroom options to begin with.

Would I recommend paying Concierge pricing for a Bermuda or New England sailing? Honestly, probably not - unless you truly have your heart set on that specific cruise. If you have a Concierge-level budget and are flexible, I’m probably going to send you to Florida so we can get you a longer or more tropical Disney Cruise experience for your money.

But Disney, please take note: We want more options from New York!

Send us more ships! Give us more round-trip itineraries! How about a longer cruise that includes Castaway Cay or Lookout Cay?! What about departure dates outside of September and October??? Please give us more options!!

The demand is clearly here. The Northeast wants more Disney cruises from New York! 🚢🗽

I get this question ALL the time, and my answer is probably not what people expect: it completely depends on your family.

I genuinely love both - but for very different reasons. Your kids’ ages, budget, the specific ship, how much you care about dining and entertainment, and whether your family wants nonstop activities or a more immersive experience can completely change which one I recommend.

The Disney Wish is coming to NEW YORK… and parents, you need to see this part. 👀🥂

We brought FOUR kids on a Disney cruise, but tonight?? The parents have plans.

Our date night started with cocktails at The Rose before heading to Palo Steakhouse for Prima Notte. It’s an adults-only food and wine tasting on the first night of your cruise, with Italian wines, delicious small bites, and a sommelier guiding you through the pairings.
